Required Tools

  • #2 Phillips screwdriver (as shown in the “Required Tools” section).

Prepare the Door and Check Dimensions

  1. Confirm that the hole in the door is either 1-1/2" or 2-1/8" (38 mm or 54 mm) in diameter and that the latch hole in the door edge is 1" (25 mm).

  2. Check that the backset (distance from door edge to center of lock hole) is either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60 mm or 70 mm).

  3. Confirm that the door thickness is between 1-3/8" and 2" (35 mm to 50 mm).

  4. Ensure the hole in the door frame is drilled deep enough (at least 1" / 25 mm) so that the deadbolt can fully extend. Check that the door frame and door are aligned and there are no obstructions.

Determine Backset and Adjust the Latch

Hold the latch in front of the door hole with the latch face flush against the door edge and the bolt retracted.

  • If the slotted hole lines up with the center of the door hole, no adjustment is needed.

  • If it does not line up, rotate and pull the latch to switch to the alternate backset position, then recheck alignment.

Install the Latch Bolt

  • For chiseled door edges: place the latch in the edge bore with the faceplate against the chiseled area, then fasten using the latch screws.

  • For non-chiseled edges: use the drive-in collar, fit it to the latch, and insert the assembly into the door edge as illustrated.

Install the Exterior Assembly

  1. Use a screwdriver to verify that the deadbolt extends and retracts smoothly after latch installation.

  2. Install the strike plate in the door frame using the strike screws. Ensure the hole in the frame is at least 1" (25 mm) deep.

  3. Before attaching the exterior assembly, confirm that the latch bolt is in the unlocked (retracted) position.

  4. With the latch retracted, rotate the tailpiece on the exterior assembly to match the orientation of the latch slot, then insert the tailpiece through the slot in the latch.

  5. Measure the door thickness and use the provided spacers or mounting options indicated in the diagram. Place the mounting plate on the interior side and secure it with the mounting plate screws. Do not overtighten. (The top screw position is optional and used when extra strength is needed.)

Install the Interior Assembly

  1. Slide the battery cover upward to remove it, as shown.

  2. Connect the cable from the exterior assembly to the corresponding socket on the interior assembly, making sure the connector is firmly seated.

  3. Keep the thumb turn in the vertical (unlocked) position, and place the interior assembly onto the door against the mounting plate.

  4. Attach the interior assembly to the mounting plate using the interior assembly screws.

  5. Insert the AA batteries into the battery compartment, following the indicated polarity.

  6. Press and hold the Reset button for at least 5 seconds until you hear a beep. This starts the lock-handling process and must be completed before programming the lock.

Attention: Ensure the cable is not pinched; otherwise, the lock may not function correctly.
