Short answer: yes, you can fit it yourself, and many customers do. Whether you should depends on the model and on your confidence with tools.
Can I do it myself?
Yes, you can DIY. Some models are designed to be straightforward to fit, and product descriptions indicate which ones are DIY-friendly.
For more complex models, or if you have not fitted a lock before, we strongly recommend using a professional installer.
The one thing to know before you start
Improper installation voids manufacturer warranty coverage.
The faults we see most often from a difficult self-install are bent or loose connector pins and damaged ribbon cables between the outside and inside panels. Those are not covered by warranty, and on some models the repair costs more than the installation would have.
If you get partway through and it does not feel right, stop and contact us rather than forcing anything.
Do you offer an installation service?
We no longer offer in-house installation services, but we can provide a list of trusted third-party installers.
Because these are independent businesses, the installer sets their own price, availability and service area, and you arrange and pay for the work directly with them. Prices vary. We do not quote on their behalf.
To get the list, start a chat or call us and tell us your postcode.
Before you book anyone
Check your door first, so you do not pay for a visit that cannot go ahead. See Will a Philips smart lock fit my door? for the two measurements that matter and the weather limitation.
Doing it yourself: where the instructions are
Video tutorials are available on our website and on our YouTube channel.
Your Help Centre also has a model-specific installation guide and requirements article for most locks. Search your model number, for example DDL615-5HBS, to find it.
If you get stuck partway through
Contact us. We provide technical support during installation, and it is much easier for us to help before a part is forced than after.
